The Epicenter of Forever

Romance readers need to check out “The Epicenter of Forever” by Mara Williams. I loved the way this steamy novel explored complicated relationships and I also enjoyed its likeable characters. The story is set in Grand Trees – a small town in wooded North California where fire safety is a major concern. Despite the looming danger, Grand Trees is a wonderful town filled with supportive community members and a place where people feel free to open their hearts to new beginnings.

Eden Hawthorne is a recently divorced woman who comes home to help her ailing mom after being gone for twenty years. She and her mom used to be close, but there is a distance between them now and Eden isn’t sure it can be repaired. Eden is still struggling with her parents’ split and her heart hasn’t healed from an accident she had as a teenager. As Eden arrives in Grand Tree, she meets gruff, moody, Caleb Connell who seems to have a connection to her mom that doesn’t make sense. The novel shows how relationships can be complicated, but also how they can heal and how forgiveness can help people go forward.

The characters in “The Epicenter of Forever” were so relatable and made this story work well. Eden, Caleb and Eden’s mom had the main focus and felt so real – and definitely flawed. The side characters were also great and added a great deal to the plot. If you are in the mood for a romance with some substance and some spice, make sure to give this novel a try!
