If you love contemporary women’s fiction with a good dose of humor, as well as great characters, check out JoJo Moyes’ novel, “We All Live Here.” This is another novel set in London – it seems like many have that setting lately – and features a quirky family and their ever-changing relationships during a particularly hard time in their lives.
Lila Kennedy is a recently divorced mom of 2 daughters, whose own mother recently passed away. She helps care for her stepfather, Bill and is struggling with her writing career and with having enough money to support the family. Suddenly her estranged father, Gene, appears at their home and needs a place to stay . . . Lila has a full plate with all of these issues and of course, more happens – causing a great deal of tension and upheaval in the family.
“We All Live Here” started out a bit slowly, but the last half of the novel really picks up the pace and was worth the slow beginning. I felt like the characters were developed really well and I was rooting for all of them in the end! Growth, understanding and forgiveness were main themes throughout the book. (Many readers loved the audiobook version of this novel too!)
