Great Big Beautiful Life

If you like women’s fiction along with a good romance and historical drama, make sure you read “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry! This novel doesn’t only focus on the romance like most of her works. There is a historical mystery that unravels as a major part of the plot too – and I loved discovering that story even more than the romance!

Alice Scott and Hayden Anderson are both writers, though with totally different outlooks on life. Alice spends most of her time smiling and pretending to be happy and bubbly. Hayden is a Pulitzer winning writer, very stand-off-ish and a bit lonely. The two are competing to write the memoir of Margaret Ives, a famous heiress whose family drama has been in newspaper headlines for decades. Margaret promises to tell her ‘true’ story to the writer who impresses her the most. After a one-month trial, Alice and Hayden will each need to pitch a proposal to Margaret in hopes of getting to write the memoir.

“Great Big Beautiful Life” is a terrific summer read, as are ALL of Emily Henry’s books. There are lots of ‘feel good’ moments, a few twists and turns, some spicy scenes and the banter and wit for which Henry is known. Watseka Public Library has 6 of Emily Henry’s novels and if the one you want is checked out, we can order it for you from one of our member libraries!
