Laura Dave has written another wonderful thriller/family drama – “The Night We Lost Him.” (She was also the author of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which was a hit on Apple TV starring Jennifer Garner.) I found this novel to be more of a romance with a mystery and I couldn’t wait to turn each page to learn more about the characters!
Liam Noone has built an empire of luxury resorts during his lifetime, as well as marrying multiple times and fathering 3 children. When he falls off a cliff on his property, the local police call it a tragic accident . . . but his daughter, Nora and her step-brother, Sam feel that there is more to the story. Could Liam have been murdered? Who might have been with him on that fatal night? And why do so many of his close friends seem to be keeping secrets? While searching for clues to what happened, Nora and Sam begin to build a bond that had been missing before. They also learn more about their father and his love for them.
If you like fast paced, action thrillers, this is probably not the novel for you. But if you like a well-written family story, with some mystery, romance and a few twists, give “The Night We Lost Him” a try – I think you’ll enjoy it!
