Ina Garten

Ina Garten’s memoir, “Be Ready When the Luck Happens” was a Top 10 nominee for Best Biography of 2024 on Goodreads, Amazon and Time. It has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list since it was published in October. Ina is famous for her Barefoot Contessa and Be My Guest shows on Food Network TV. She also owned and ran her own business in the Hamptons for many years.

I enjoyed reading Ina Garten’s stories – from growing up with cold, distant parents, to working in the White House, to her eventual success and celebrity status on the Food Network. Her path was not the traditional one for most women of her generation. She eventually followed her husband’s advice . . . “Do what you love, because if you love it you’ll be really good at it.” Her favorite food is simply made and good to enjoy with friends. (She even includes a few recipes in the book – which I might have to try!) I especially liked reading about Ina’s determination, her persistence through failures and her stories about her wonderful husband, Jeffrey.

I was happy to read a memoir that had humor and the search for fulfillment on each page. If you like food and reading about life adventures, you check out Ina Garten’s new biography/memoir.
