Framed

“Framed: Astonishing True Stories of Wrongful Convictions” is a non-fiction expose of ten cases where innocent people were convicted of terrible crimes. The wrongly convicted people spent years (and sometimes decades) behind bars. The book is co-authored by John Grisham, famous legal fiction author and Jim McCloskey, founder of Centurion Ministries.

Truthfully, the ten cases chosen for this book were very brutal – most involved murder, sexual assault and more. It was difficult to read what many of the victims suffered. But I was astonished at the corrupt behavior of so many lawyers, judges, investigators and law enforcement officers in framing these innocent men and women. So many lives were destroyed just because those involved in solving the crimes refused to admit they were wrong! Even more astounding was the hiding of evidence proving that the accused was innocent! I commend the many lawyers,  journalists and police officers who worked to overturn these convictions – even though it took decades in most cases.

Anyone interested in reading ‘true crime’ or legal thrillers should check-out this new book of stories. This book was really well researched and is very detailed. After reading a couple of stories, the many details and names do seem to run together. (I would suggest reading one story each day – since there are 10 different stories in the book.) Grisham and McCloskey have written an important book that highlights some things that need to change in our judicial system!
