“Disclaimer” by Renee Knight is a new book to our library, but was first published in 2015. (It has been made into a TV movie and is now streaming on Apple TV starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline.) This novel is a good psychological thriller that can get confusing at times, but once I got 80 pages in, I was hooked!
Catherine Ravenscroft finds a novel on her bedside table and wonders how it got there. Once she begins reading it, she notices that it seems to be a book about her own life. She is afraid the secrets from her past will destroy her present life. But who wrote the book? How did the novel end up in her home? What secrets are really being exposed? As a reader, it is best to go into this novel without knowing much about the secrets or characters . . . there are several twists and turns along the way that are best discovered while reading.
If you enjoy crime fiction, contemporary psychological thrillers and stories about betrayal/jealousy/revenge, “Disclaimer” is a novel you will want to check out!
