She Didn’t See It Coming

Book cover of "She Didn't See It Coming" by Sheri Lapena.

I was immediately caught up in reading “She Didn’t See It Coming” by Shari Lapena! Most of the characters are less than honest, lol, but the mystery/thriller kept me wanting to go on to ‘just one more chapter’ – which was easy, because the chapters are short.

Bryden Frost, accountant/wife/mother, decides to work from home one seemingly normal day. But when she fails to pick her daughter up from daycare and her husband can’t find her either, everyone begins to worry. Did Bryden leave her happy family life, job and luxury condominium or did something sinister happen? There are multiple suspects and they all have secrets. Detective Jayne must sift through many family dramas, lies, past baggage and unlikeable characters to discover what happened to cause Bryden to disappear.

“She Didn’t See It Coming” is a fast-paced and clever domestic thriller. There is lots of misdirection and I kept switching my suspicions to different characters as the twists were revealed in the novel. This book is a page turner and invites the reader to play detective as the chapters race by!
