“Daughter of Mine” by Megan Miranda was a terrific mystery with lots of family drama and psychological twists. I absolutely loved reading this novel and trying to figure out clues to who might be a murderer and who might be covering up secrets. My chores definitely got put on hold so I could read chapter after chapter of this one!
Hazel has returned to her hometown of Mirror Lake, North Carolina for her father, Perry Holt’s, celebration of life service. Perry was an icon in the community – a longtime detective, whose 2 sons have followed in his footsteps and serve on the local police force. In Perry’s will, the family home is left only to Hazel – not to her brothers. If that isn’t strange enough, 2 cars are pulled from Mirror Lake that week – right behind the Holt house. What mystery lies behind those discoveries? Bad things seem to keep happening and Hazel doesn’t know who to trust. The creepy plot kept my interest and the plot twists were surprising!
I loved reading “Daughter of Mine!” The characters and setting were wonderful and I enjoyed the well-written plot! This novel will be going out often – a great summer read!
