“The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre” Book Review

If you are a lover of Historical Fiction, make sure you check-out The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre by Natasha Lester. I absolutely LOVED it! There are 423 pages filled with war stories, fashion tidbits, romance, loss, tragedy and intrigue . . . the intrigue and romance were top-notch and really pulled me into this wonderful story. (The characters of Alix and Anthony are fictional, but the world around them is full of historical references.)

Alix St. Pierre has really had three different lives . . . She was orphaned at age 13 but grew up surrounded by Hollywood glamor, worked for the U.S. as a spy during WWII and then was hired as the publicist for Christian Dior’s fashion launch in Paris. Alix is a terrific main character – smart, funny, opinionated, beautiful, talented and loyal. She has had such a full life already – especially during her work helping Italian partisans fight the Nazi’s during WWII. But the threat to her success at Dior is very real and now it seems that she is being followed by an enemy from her war years. How did Alix overcome her childhood loss? Will Alix succeed as a publicist for Dior amid rumors and jealousy? And who is the person that betrayed Alix during the war and is still following her now?

Many characters appear in more than one timeline, but I was so involved in the novel that I had no trouble keeping them straight. This novel isn’t a “quick read” – it is a sweeping story that combines so many wonderful elements. I’m not sure if I loved the danger and suspense of the espionage plot or the beautiful romantic plot more! I feel like The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre might be one of my favorite reads of 2023!
